Abbitt is an independent, family owned real estate firm comprised of sales, management of residential, multifamily and commercial rentals and insurance divisions. In 1946, Meredith "Monk" Abbitt opened the first Abbitt Realty office in downtown Newport News, Virginia. "Monk" realized Newport News was growing rapidly and needed realtors who would be committed to creating strong relationships that would continue to grow in the future. Richard F. Abbitt carried on his father's values of honesty, integrity and commitment to our community. Honesty and integrity in each relationship and business transaction is what Abbitt Management, Abbitt Insurance and Abbitt Realty stands for today. Richard F. Abbitt gave us a solid commitment to our community in many different ways, but most important, he believed in creating quality housing for all the single and multifamily communities we have developed and/or manage.

This commitment to our clients and community is carried forward today by the strong leadership of Charles W. Wornom, President of Abbitt Management, Inc and Carolyn S. Abbitt, Chairman of the Board. Richard F. Abbitt's son, Matthew Abbitt, is involved in the many areas of the property management division of the Company. Honesty, integrity, and commitment to our community are still the core values of the entire Abbitt organization and these values are why we have so many loyal employees and returning customers.
